The History of India is one of the most important sections of the WBCS Prelims. It contributes 25 marks, with questions spanning from ancient civilization to modern India’s freedom struggle. Understanding history is essential not just for the exam but for developing a perspective on India’s political, social, and cultural evolution.
This section is divided into three broad parts:
-
Ancient Indian History
-
Medieval Indian History
-
Modern Indian History (with focus on Indian National Movement)
Additionally, special attention is given to the role of Bengal in Indian history, especially in the freedom struggle.
